Update

It has come to my attention that some people are using my direct links to post my banners on their own blogs/websites. By doing this, you are stealing my bandwidth. I do not have unlimited bandwidth. So when you do this, the bandwidth gets exceeded. When the bandwidth comes to the limit that my host allows they remove my pictures/banners and replace them with an ugly one saying I've exceeded my bandwidth. I'm sure you're seeing this on your site too if your using my direct links.

If you are a fan fiction rec' blog and want to use my banners so that you can recommend fan fiction stories to your followers, please let me know via email, twitter or facebook which ones you'd like and I'd be happy to email them to you so you can set up your own photo host account so you can have your OWN links...not mine.

This is your fair warning.  Today it June 29,2013 and my bandwidth has reset for the month.   When my bandwidth becomes exceeded again this month, I will be DELETING ALL of the banners that have that ugly picture from photobucket. When that happens...they will be deleted from YOUR blog/website too.

If this continues to happen then I will delete my site. Period! End of story! I do not have the funds to purchase an unlimited bandwidth so I can share with you.

Update

Thank you all for being so patient while my site has looked a bit of a mess as of late.  I've fixed the adoption center so you can now see what adoption banners are really available at this time. I've also gone through and changed the links to the navigation buttons so you can easily make your way through the site.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to change out all the links to every banner and picture that is not showing up at this time.  Those will have to wait until the photobucket account resets on the 29th of this month.

I have set the account up as private and we can hope that will help in the future.  As I have had this site for probably 4 or 5 years, this is the first time I've ever exceeded my bandwidth. And it is definitely not because of the traffic here this month. LOL Since it has been one of my lowest visitor counts in a long time.

Sorry for the incovenience

It has been brought to my attention as you can see, nearly all of my items have been removed and replaced with photobucket's ugly picture.  Unfortunately, it seems that either there is a glitch with photobucket OR someone is using my links and posting my pictures on their site because photobucket is saying that I've used 10GB of bandwidth (something I've never come close to before) and it won't reset until the 29th of this month.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience for those who are trying to look at my newer banners.  What I can do here is give you a link to my banner Facebook and you can see the adoption banners there.  While I try to figure out what I can do to get my site going right again.  I hope it won't take too long.

I'm going to ask that IF you have been using my direct links of any of my banners, pictures etc. Please discontinue using them. I cannot afford to upgrade to a premium account with photobucket to get a larger bandwidth. So if this continues, unfortunately we'll get to see the ugly photobucket picture until they reset it.  If there is a picture or banner that you would like to use on your website, just ask me.  I'll email you a copy so you can upload it yourself.  The other option would be for me to place a paypal donation button on the website and you could donate to the payment of a premium account with photobucket.  The cost would be about $49.99 a year. But, with that would also come unlimited bandwidth.  If that is something you would like to do, please feel free to either comment here or email me.

Plagiarism needs to be stopped!

Yesterday, a particularly egregious plagiarist came to light.

On Facebook, Emme MG reported she had found a fanfiction story that was actually a plagiarized version of a published book. “Bella and the Royal Sheikh” by Bella 5755 is stolen from The Royal Sheikh by Katheryn Lane.

Emme MG mentioned that the other stories on the profile looks suspicious because of how quickly they were posted, so I started doing some digging. Almost immediately, I discovered nearly every story was a replace-the-names swipe from another author. Christag Banners, Kelly Trobaugh, and Unimaginative Olena helped with the search. In the end, we determined that fifteen of the sixteen stories on her profile were stolen from other authors.

The only story on Bella5755’s profile we were not able to confirm as plagiarized was the one-shot “Someone Like You.” Sadly, the plagiarist got away with it for almost a year and a half. One of the reviews in one of the stories noted in May of last year that it was stolen. I don’t know if the reviewer reported it or not, but the real author of that particular story was surprised when she saw nothing had been done.

I’ve been in contact with the authors who were plagiarized. For many of them, this was their first experience with plagiarism and they were shocked and bewildered. I told them the fandom was working to get these stories pulled. I wanted them to know they're not alone, and the fandom takes this seriously. Hopefully, a flood of reports will make FFN take action.

I strongly suggest all authors do periodic searches for their work. Choose a sentence from your story, preferably one without names, since those are likely to have been changed, and put it in quotation marks when you do a Google search.

A little house cleaning here today.

First, if you've requested a banner from me, I've updated my waiting list on the blog, if you don't need a banner from me anymore or if you don't like where you're at on the list, let me know & I can remove you from the list.

I am still on HIATUS and working on them as I have time.

Fandom compilation banners will always come first then contest banners, adoption banners and finally regular requested banners.

I have always tried to be upfront with anyone asking for a banner, letting them know that I have been moving (several times within the last few months) as well as having some real life issues that have to be dealt with before fandom life can be looked at.

Second, with all the fics that have been  pulled lately or moved to other sites...I'd like for you to look at your banners here on my blog. IF you have moved your story to another site (after being pulled from FFN) then please leave a comment on that post with a link to your new posting of your story. I'm not sure if you realize but readers see your banner here and click over to your story to read it. If the link is dead (story has been pulled) then you've just lost a possible reader.

I just wanted to thank all the authors on my banner list for being so patient and understanding while I have been in the process of moving. This past month has been exhausting trying to find a home and move. By this time next month I will have moved again. But, luckily into my own home.  Thank you for being so wonderful while I pack up and move not once but twice.

I am trying to get to banners as I can. My computer time is quite limited right now. But I will work on the banners as much as I can. As always, fandom compilation banners will always go to the top of my list since they are time sensitive for there entry into the compilations. After that I work on the list in order of request date.

Sadly someone has once again thought it was okay to steal someone else's hard work.  It has come to our attention that someone is posing as the author Bronzehairgirl620 on FF.net.  THIS IS NOT THE REAL AUTHOR.  Bronze left the fandom back in the winter of 2011 to focus on real life and original work she hopes to publish one day in the future.  Sadly someone has decided her departure was their okay to steal her previously posted work and assume her identity. If you have a moment, please let FF.net that the link below is FAKE.  

The fandom has unified in the past for many a great causes - with unity there is power.  So lets speak out to those who think its okay to steal, lie and cheat. WE WILL CLOSE YOU DOWN.

Heading out for vacation

As I've mentioned on Twitter, I am taking a week vacation away from all things computer related. Please feel free to continue to use my banner request form and know that when I get back next Sunday (June 27th) that I'll get to work on those on the first come first serve basis.  With the exception of any charity banners, as always they will be bumped up to the top of the list.

Hey guys, 

I hate to do this to you.  But with the recent issues I've had with my banners being cropped down and claimed as someone else's work, I find that I must do this.  I have disabled the right click save image ability on my blog.

I want you to understand that I am not saying my banners can't be posted elsewhere.  In fact, that is far from the truth.  I find it a huge compliment when you want to post them on your blogs.  

I just ask that you either find me on Twitter, FB or leave a comment here on the banner that you'd like to post and I'd be glad to email you a copy as long as when you post it on your blog/Facebook/tumblr you put "made by Christag_banner".

For my affiliates that post my fan banners on their blogs, if you want me to email them to you every time I make one that fits to your blog/FB I can do that.  Just @ or email me and let me know that is something your interested in and I'll make it work.

I really hate doing this.  And it may be something I take off as quick as I put it on.  But,with things as they stand right now, I feel that I must do this for the time being.  I hope you all understand.  And remember I am more than willing to share, so just ask.
