I'm so sad a bit disappointed...

I've got to say, I am very sad. We have two wonderful causes going on right now. The Fandom4redcross (ends December 20th) and ChrisWishesT4T (ends December 24th). They both need so much help. And the thing that gets me is they are only asking for $5-10 to help out their cause.

Right now do you want to guess how much money they have raised?  ChrisWishesT4T has only $140 and they only have 23 days left.  Fandom4redcross has a bit more at $720 and only have 19 days left.

I was so very proud of our fandom when we rallied together and got such an amazing turnout for the StandUp4Katalina  (raised a grand total of  $12,790) and had hoped we could get a fraction of that amount for these two wonderful causes.

Yes, I know...times are tight and you're making sure your own families have Christmas. I understand that, really I do. But think about it...$5 could you skip that Starbucks latte today? Skip that take-out meal tonight and instead make your family sandwiches at home?  When it all boils down to it, $5 is nothing compared to the amazing people that will be helped out by these causes.

Please help!

  1. I agree, Chris. I think it'll be OK, though. A lot of people wait until the last minute to donate so, we'll have to pimp out the causes more and cross our fingers.

  2. Sadly, I agree with you as well. It never made any sense why some causes bust through the roof of the fandom and why some barely make a dent. I always felt the success was based on the writers who sign up. It seems that if there are a lot of the more "popular" writers donating, then the cause does well. Purely my own observation. I don't think we will ever figure out why but can only hope and promote the ones that need the most help.
